Class Description:
All public classes are heavily influenced by Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. If you are unfamiliar with the tradition, you are encourage to read up a bit. Get a little of the 1% theory to go along with the 99% practice paradigm.
Open: A class designed with a deeper focus on understanding internal and external alignment as they relate to one another and vinyasa. Expect occasional untraditional counts, focus explorations and research postures. Don’t get it twisted– this does not mean “easier” nor does it mean “harder.” Instead, this is chance to play with certain sequences and postures in a near-traditional format while also allowing for a workshop-style approach. A variety of traditions, lineages, drills, and modalities will be utilized to refine and enhance understanding. Good for any practice– traditional or contemporary.
Half and Half- Traditional Led Half Primary, Led Half Intermediate. Traditional Count. Consisting of Surya Namaskara A&B, Standing Postures, Primary Series to Nivasana, Intermediate Series to Kapotasana, and Closing Postures. Familiarity with these terms is highly recommended.
Vinyasa Flow/Rocket- Heavily influenced by the Ashtanga Vinyasa System. Poses, sequenced intelligently, are used to unlock the body, challenge the chatter of the mind, and create a space to explore function and form with a bit of levity and play. ”Vinyasa” emphasizes the connection between movement and breath whilst offering an opportunity for creativity and reflection outside of a Mysore practice.
Private Session- Classically, yoga was taught one-on-one from teacher to student. This method of teaching, direct transmission, allows for a more comfortable and thorough approach to deepening the student’s practice. The work is focused on alignment, breath, focus, superficial/non-superficial muscles, as well as sequencing so as to aid in the development of a home practice. Contact to schedule an appointment.
